Official Statement: World Championship Update

Dear athletes, members, delegates, and partners, We would like to inform you that, following close and constructive conversation with the Local Organising Committee (LOC), the World Championship originally planned for 2026 in Rome will be rescheduled.

Together with the LOC, we have carefully reviewed the scale and complexity of delivering a world-class event of this level. In order to ensure that all organisational, operational, and community elements are fully aligned with both the Federation’s standards and the LOC’s ambitions, additional preparation time is required.

This decision reflects our shared commitment to quality, sustainability, and delivering an exceptional experience for athletes, delegations, and the global community. We would like to acknowledge the strong dedication and ongoing efforts of the LOC, who continue to work closely with us toward this goal. We are therefore working in partnership with the LOC on the opportunity to host the World Championship in Rome in 2027.

We are confident that this extended timeline will allow us to realise the full vision of the event and create a truly outstanding championship. In parallel, we are currently exploring options for the 2026 competition calendar, including the possibility of hosting the World Championship 2026 bit later this year in Latvia! Further details will be communicated once confirmed.
