WORLD PULL-UP DAY (first information)

WORLD PULL-UP DAY
September 14, 2014

Background:

In 2011 Latvian Street Workout Association (founders of World Street Workout and Calisthenics Federation) together with company “Latvian Railroad” organized “Latvian Pull-Up Day” for the first time. It was a one day pull-up competition in 50 cities of Latvia with super-final live on TV at the end of the day. This event collected more than 3000 participants and gained huge attention among the whole society. After the success in first year, event in year 2013 was organized in 60 cities and collected around 8000 participants (1.6% of the economically active population in Latvia)  together making more than 70 000 pull-ups within one day.
In 2014 World Street Workout & Calisthenics Federations is organizing “WORLD PULL-UP DAY”. Pull-Up for charity!

Idea of the event:

World is full of negative energy that is affecting our lives. We want to unite the world – all people without discrimination of their age, sex, nationality, race or religion – by helping them to unload their negative energy through exercising (pull-ups) and replacing it with positive emotions.
The Pull-Up exercise is good measurement of one’s physical condition, as the person uses only its body weight for exercising. It is a natural and non-injuring movement, which can be performed by people of all ages, both men and women. The advantage of the Pull-Up exercise lies in possibility to quickly exhaust the physical strength and unload the negative energy by substituting it with positive emotions for the work done.

“Simple pull-ups once changed my life completely from negative to positive and they did the same to thousands of people around me after sharing this positive change. Now I believe that simple pull-ups can change, inspire and motivate for better everyone around the world” – Maris Slezins, Chairman of WSWCF

We offer a combination of exercising pleasure and charitable action (purpose). In September 14 people all around the world will pull-up and at the same time will do good things by donating money or goods for a previously specified charity purpose within their country. Even if the person currently lacks possibility to donate, his participation itself will contribute to the scale of the event and thus will help to increase the recognition of the event among people, organizations and companies in future. The charity purposes may be different – to help disabled persons, children, animals, to build new or reconstruct existing sports grounds, where people can exercise and unload negative energy throughout the year.
Find the place where you can do Pull-Ups and the specified charity target of this place in a special Pull-Up point map, visit this place by yourself and your friends and family members and take part in the most global human strength and charity project in the world. You will also get to know how much Pull-Ups you can make, how much Pull-Ups your friends can make, how much Pull-Ups your country can make in comparison with others, as well as how much Pull-Ups the whole world can make within one day.

The main motto of the event is: Pull-Up for charity and every Pull-Up counts!

Pull-Up for charity and find out:

  1. How many pull-ups can be done in one day worldwide?
  2. How many pull-ups can men and women of your country make?
  3. How many pull-ups can your family make?
  4. How many pull-ups can you do yourself?
  5. How many pull-ups will be your goal for the next World Pull-Up Day in 2015?

Details of the WORLD PULL-UP DAY event:
Special Pull-Up points will be made by the World Street Workout and Calisthenics Federation’s member states in each participant country. Also other organizations around the world are welcomed to join and create their own Pull-Up point according to the regulations. All information about the Pull-Up points and details may be found at the website: www.worldpull-upday.com (also www.worldpullupday.com). The Pull-Up points will be located in local street workout parks close to city centre or in the city centre using portable pull-up bars. In each point there will be several judges who will be counting pull-ups (pursuant to simple rules) and will collect donations. One of the judges will be the Judge of Honour – these judges will be famous people of particular country that will help to attract more people and will make sure that counting of results has been done properly. Pull-Up points will work from 10:00 till 17:00 (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and all people from around will be invited to come and do pull-ups. All day long people will be encouraged to make pictures of them doing pull-ups and to share their emotions on social networks Instagram and Twitter using official hashtag of the event #worldpullupday. Pictures and tweets will be collected and placed in the official website and social media of the event. After 17:00 (5 p.m.) each country will collect their results and pass them to the central office of the WORLD PULL-UP day where all results will be summed together within 24 hours. After counting of the results we will have statistics from all countries and total number of pull-ups made around the world within one day. These results will be provided to all global media.

Partnerships in WORLD PULL-UP DAY event:

Global and local companies, foundations and organizations are welcomed to donate money for charity (in amount linked to the number of pull-ups made globally or locally). All information about donations will be placed in official website.
Global and local companies are welcomed to offer discounts for their production or goods for those who will participate in event, thus stimulating people to gather for this positive event.
Also we plan to have global partner companies that will donate for every Pull-Up you make or provide you with discount or goods for participating in this project.

Future vision of the WORLD PULL-UP DAY:
WORLD PULL-UP DAY event is a long term project planned to take place annually in every single country around the world. We will attract major general and local partners that will donate money for charity (in the amount linked to the number of pull-ups made) and will contribute towards making this event the largest strength and charity event globally.
WORLD PULL-UP DAY in 2014 is the first global event and thus will be the prolusion before setting the new Guinness World Record for “most people attempting pull-ups simultaneously within 24h” in 2015. We plan to beat the previous record every following year.
We see the WORLD PULL-UP DAY event as annual world’s sensation that will show how strong and united people can be worldwide. We believe that simple pull-ups can change the world to a better place to live!
